What is EPIC?

Throughout the Gospels Jesus consistently invites people to, “Follow me.” At River Oak Grace we want to have an intentional focus on the spiritual pathways that form significant disciples of Jesus Christ. This is not just the transmission of information for one to understand Matthew 28:19 in their mind, but the transformation of hearts that produces a testimony of one that follows Jesus. We want to help people see marked evidence of steps that lead toward the heart of God, while seeing lives of others drawn toward Jesus Christ. We believe our Epic Ministries will help guide the hearts of men, women, students, and children toward becoming deeper disciples through Christ and His Word.

EPIC STUDENTS: “JAMES”

James had a unique earthly relationship with Jesus; after all, he was His half-brother. And, after Jesus' death, James went on to be one of the primary leaders in the early Church. His letter to primarily Jewish Christians clarifies what a godly life should look like for us all. The Book of James is filled with practical wisdom for Christians, calling us to live out genuine faith through good works, but it is also rooted in deep faith and rich theology. Perhaps more than any other book in the New Testament, James emphasizes the application of Christian belief that flows out a love for God and an understanding of the one true gospel.

Taught by Nate Cummings, Ryan Davidson, Marc & Jennifer Percival

EPIC RESTORATION: “STEPS”

This coming Epic semester ROG will take STEPS toward the ministry of prayer and restoration.   Prayer will give men and women a safe place to pursue redemption in Christ from sin and suffering. Each week we will meet for a combination of prayer, teaching and small groups.  This semester’s discipleship ministry will launch our church into a season of prayer while helping transition people through the root of sin and suffering in order to embrace the freedom found only in Christ's redemption. Potentially life-changing experiences are brought about by in-depth Bible study, thorough personal assessments, insightful teaching videos, and honest interactions with a group leader and mentor.
Steps will help form the foundation of the church's ongoing restoration ministry. It will continue to be one of the most fruitful discipleship courses offered throughout the calendar year at ROG.
We will experince teaching that will build on the incomplete truths of traditional recovery programs, Steps elevates the redeemed truths to be seen through the light of Scripture and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Theologically rich and steeped in the wisdom of practical biblical counseling, Steps is more than a Bible study; it's a discipleship tool and the foundation for gospel-centered recovery.

Taught by Senior Pastor Korey Buchanek

Disciples Path- “the mission”

The Mission Bible Study Book asks disciples to explore the question "What does a disciple do in relationship with the world?" Knowledge and community are only good as much as they serve a disciple on his or her mission. Like all the releases in the Disciples Path series, The Mission uses teaching, questions, conversation, exercises, and individual study to facilitate transformational discipleship through this dynamic yet personal Bible study experience.

Taught by Curt Willems

EPIC LIFE- “MONEY”

“If a person gets (their) attitude toward money straight, it will help straighten out almost every other area in (their) life.” - Billy Graham
Money – it’s everywhere. How we handle it says a lot about our faith, priorities, and values. It also determines how it affects our relationships.
This 2024 Spring semester the EPIC Life class will be focusing on Money – The Spiritual and Practical.
We will discuss God’s instruction for handling wealth from a biblical perspective, and how we live these instructions out in our everyday actions and attitudes. The class will cover, among other topics, stewardship, contentment, budgeting, giving, and investing. We will also take a look at why we have the attitudes toward money that we do, including tendencies within our personalities and as men and women.
Money is about more than wealth; it is about the heart. When we get our attitude towards money straight, indeed, our close relationships and lives are more balanced, fruitful and glorifying to God.
This class is for anyone who desires to get “their attitude toward money straight”.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

EPIC River Kids -
(3 years old & potty trained - 6th grade)

EPIC River Kids is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to know Jesus Christ and to grow in a relationship with Him. This semester we will take kids on a journey through the four Gospel books that tell us about who Jesus is and why He came. Kids will explore the themes and purposes of the Gospels and learn how each account of the same story seamlessly weaves different details together to share the good news of Jesus and the kingdom of God.
